2017-2018 Legislative Session Total Points: 12

Former Senator Golden’s voting rights record is ranked 7th of 9 Brooklyn State Senators.

Former Senator Golden represented the 22nd District, consisting Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Bensonhurst, Marine Park, Gerritsen Beach, Gravesend and parts of Sheepshead Bay, Borough Park and Midwood.

Former Senator Golden sponsored bills intended to ensure availability of bilingual voting materials, including specific protections for the Russian language. He also co-sponsored two bills which addressed bilingual voting materials and no excuse absentee voting. As a sponsor of only two bills and co-sponsor of an additional two bills, it is evident that voting rights was not a priority for former Senator Golden. We ask that the senator’s successor be a voice for the constituents of the 22nd District who have specific concerns related to language access, but would also benefit from comprehensive voting reforms.
