Deadline to REGISTER TO VOTE for the November 6th Election:
By Mail – postmarked no later than OCTOBER 12, 2018 (and received by local Board of Elections by October 17, 2018)
In Person – application received by OCTOBER 12, 2018 at your local Board of Elections office, find it here.

U.S. Military honorably discharged and New York residents naturalized as U.S. citizens after October 13, 2018, have until October 27, 2018 to register with the Board of Elections.  

Deadline to CHANGE PARTY ENROLLMENT for the 2019 primary:
Application received by county Board of Elections by OCTOBER 12, 2018

First time registered voters can register or not register in a party at the time of submission of the applicant’s voter registration form. Previously registered voters must change their registration by October 12, 2018, if they wish to vote in the 2019 primaries. If you are already registered in a party that participates in the primaries, you do not need to do anything. However, check your voter registration before and up to primary election today to make sure your information is accurate. Check your status HERE.

Deadline to CHANGE YOUR ADDRESS:
Notice received by county Board of Elections by OCTOBER 17, 2018

* If you moved but didn’t change your address with the NY Board of Elections, you can still vote by going to the polling location for your new address and casting an affidavit ballot*

If you’ll be outside NYC or unable to vote on Election Day due to illness, disability, because of care giving responsibilities, or because you are detained in jail or in prison for an non-felony offense, you may vote by absentee ballot.

Deadline to APPLY for an ABSENTEE BALLOT:
By Mail – postmarked no later than OCTOBER 30, 2018 
In Person – application received by NOVEMBER 5, 2018 at your local Board of Elections office, find it here.

Deadline to SUBMIT your ABSENTEE BALLOT:
By Mail – Ballots must be POSTMARKED by NOVEMBER 5, 2018 (and received by local Board of Elections by November 19, 2018)
In Person – Ballots must be HANDED IN (by someone other than the voter) by NOVEMBER 6, 2018 at your local Board of Elections office,  find it here.
